Forming hearts and minds for public service

Who we are

Ecumenical Commons is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that convenes and cultivates communities of formation and care for those serving the public good.

Through programs in economics, spirituality, and creative expression, we help people sustain their work, deepen their vocation, and make sense of the world around them.

Our work is rooted in Washington, D.C., and designed to meet the needs of those working in and around government. At this time we primarily serve congressional staffers, but our programs also welcome anyone striving to serve the common good, including public servants, nonprofit professionals, researchers, advocates, and community organizers.

We connect congressional staff with researchers, practitioners, and communities developing new approaches to today’s economic challenges, creating spaces for real learning, dialogue, and fresh ideas. • Staff Clarity

Staff Clarity helps public servants find clarity of purpose, responsibility, and moral identity while serving in complex institutions. Staff Clarity provides formation, accompaniment, and reflective practices that help staff sustain integrity and clarity over time. To learn more, read our one-pager.

Become a Supporter

We’re in an exciting early stage and seeking seed support to fund core operations and build a sustainable foundation for our work.

Monthly donations early on have an outsized impact, helping us expand our reach and support more public servants and community members in D.C. during this critical time.
