Forming hearts and minds for public service
Who we are
Ecumenical Commons is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that convenes and cultivates communities of formation and care for those serving the public good.
Through programs in economics, spirituality, and creative expression, we help people sustain their work, deepen their vocation, and make sense of the world around them.
Our work is rooted in Washington, D.C., and designed to meet the needs of those working in and around government. At this time we primarily serve congressional staffers, but our programs also welcome anyone striving to serve the common good, including public servants, nonprofit professionals, researchers, advocates, and community organizers.
Our Offerings
-

Ecumenical Economics
Explore how our economic life can better serve the public good. Through pluralist dialogue and accessible learning, it connects policymakers, researchers, and advocates who are reimagining economics as a moral and civic discipline. We host conversations, reading groups, and happy hours.
-

Staff Clarity
We offer spaces of mutual support, spiritual reflection, and discernment for congressional and policy staff navigating the demands of public life. We host discussion groups on Capitol Hill and opportunities to connect with nature, creative expression, and supportive community.
